Christa is a mediator, jurist, and former international negotiator, specialized in facilitating workplace conflicts and international disputes.
After her studies, Christa worked for 12 years as a legal advisor and negotiator at the United Nations and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She led complex negotiations between conflicting parties and governments in conflict areas. Subsequently, she held management and board positions at NGOs, charities, and non-profit organizations in the Netherlands. In these roles, she designed and facilitated dialogues and roundtable discussions with diverse stakeholders to make complex issues open for discussion. Christa completed her mediation training at Result ADR in Weesp.
In addition, she is involved with the Result Mediation Foundation, a non-profit organization that advises on mediation processes in (former) conflict areas.
Christa’s mediation style is characterized by calmness, attention, and efficiency. She creates space for parties to tell their story and engage in conversation with each other, quickly gets to the core of the matter, and helps parties work efficiently towards acceptable solutions that benefit everyone.
"I am convinced that there is no other way to resolve conflicts than by engaging in conversation. Sitting around the table with parties in conflict is both intense and remarkable. I have experienced that something changes when people truly see and hear each other, and feel each other’s pain and emotions. I have seen people go from fearful and hostile to becoming friends. I have seen hatred turn into putting an arm around each other. It is impressive to see trust grow between parties in conflict and mutual understanding develop for each other’s concerns and needs. Then, a solution often becomes obvious."
