About Cherique

After completing grammar school, Cherique Hilgers-Verspoor successfully finished both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Law (Toga Master in Civil and Criminal Law) at Erasmus University Rotterdam within the nominal study period. At the age of 22, she began her career as a lawyer at a mid-sized law firm in Rotterdam, where she gained extensive experience in the legal field. In addition to her work as a lawyer, Cherique also acquired valuable experience as an interim employment lawyer in the corporate sector and with an industry association.

In 2020, Cherique founded her own law firm and mediation practice, where she focuses daily on resolving employment conflicts. Since mid-2023, she has been officially registered as an MfN mediator and affiliated with Result ADR as an employment mediator.

Cherique understands better than anyone that there is often a world of difference between being right and getting what you are entitled to. Her experience in handling legal proceedings has taught her that holding firm to legal positions often leads to escalation. In her role as a mediator, Cherique shifts the focus away from who is right, instead concentrating on how both parties can resolve the conflict together and move forward. With attention to both the legal framework and interpersonal dynamics, Cherique’s constructive approach ensures that the focus is on the solution, not the conflict, contributing to sustainable outcomes for the future.
